Privacy policy

How CryptoReal News collects, uses, and protects your data, and how to exercise your rights under GDPR.

1. Who we are

This policy covers CryptoReal Media LLC ("we", "us"), publisher of CryptoReal News. For any privacy question, contact our data protection contact at [email protected].

2. Data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the site and, where you opt in, to send you updates:

  • Contact data — the email address you submit to our investigation-alerts form.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, referring page, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from IP address, collected via privacy-respecting analytics.
  • Preference data — your light/dark theme choice, stored locally in your browser via localStorage and never transmitted to us.

We do not collect financial account credentials, private keys, or seed phrases, and we will never ask you for them.

3. Why we process it (legal basis)

  • Consent — sending you investigation-alert emails requires the checkbox consent you give on the subscribe form.
  • Legitimate interest — aggregated, non-identifying usage data helps us understand which case files matter most to readers and keep the site running securely.

4. Consent & communications

The consent checkbox on our subscribe form is unchecked by default — we never assume consent on your behalf. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by emailing our privacy contact. Withdrawing consent does not affect the legality of processing carried out before withdrawal.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep the site functional, plus localStorage for your theme preference. If we ever add third-party analytics or advertising cookies, this section and an on-page cookie banner will be updated first.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary data with:

  • Our email delivery provider, solely to send the alerts you've opted into.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf under a data-processing agreement.
  • Regulators or law enforcement, only where legally compelled.

7. International transfers

Where data is processed outside the EEA/UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent adequacy mechanism with our processors.

8. Data retention

Contact data for investigation alerts is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Usage data is retained in aggregated, non-identifying form only.

9. Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the EEA, UK, or a jurisdiction with equivalent protections, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest, including direct marketing.
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

10. How to request deletion

Email our privacy contact with the subject line "Data deletion request" and the email address associated with your data. We verify the request, delete or anonymize the data within 30 days, and confirm by email once complete.

11. Children's privacy

CryptoReal News is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

12. Changes to this policy

We will note any material change to this policy at the top of this page for at least 30 days after it takes effect.
